Do I look like a Kathy?

Ok, it's been over two weeks since I last blogged. I will state that I have a very good reason though - my mom had a mastectomy and tram flap reconstruction on July 25th. So life has been pretty hectic!! Mom had a type of breast cancer called DCIS, which is a very curable type. Basically, the mastectomy took care of it, so there will be no chemo in the future. Thank the Lord for that!!

Recovery is going well, in my opinion. The first couple days were really rough until we got the hang of the medication and got things sorted out. Now, Mom is able to get herself up and around and for the most part can handle things for herself. She doesn't feel comfortable going up and down stairs and can't wash her hair yet .. but generally, things are coming along nicely. Today was the first day where she was home alone and is enjoying the solitude. (In my family, we tend to like our alone time. It's not you, it's us. Seriously. If I ever phase out, you can call or email me, but it might be that I am sick of society in general. I love my friends and family, seriously!)

Thursday is Mom's first doctor's appointment since her surgery. I think she is looking forward to it because the drainage tubes might be taken out and this nasty wrap around her waist might be taken off too. I will save everyone the discomfort by describing it. It is driving Mom crazy because it is so uncomfortable and itchy. Even I will be thrilled when it is taken off.

See - when I get typing - sometimes there are things you never thought or hoped I'd share. Sorry!

My boss called me Kathy this afternoon. Do I look like a Kathy? I have been called all kinds of names before but not Kathy. Oh well - he does that kind of thing all the time any way. One time he called me Sue (my predecessor) and I mentioned that I would have to go find her in order to help him ... :) Oh well! He laughed.
