Ok. I am here now to finally post an update. It has only taken me about a week to get another post prepared. Oh well. Life comes at you fast - and I spend more time knitting than on the computer, especially considering that my computer at home is on dail-up.

Here are some pictures of a cable scarf that I started from a Lion Brands pattern. Needless to say, I was very dissapointed due to the fact that it folded onto itself. Call me a lazy terd, but I do not want to have to flatten it out somehow, with no promise of it staying that way. It started out looking very nice ...

but the minute I took my hands off of it .. BAM!

So I stopped knitting that pattern and have started a scarf pattern called an Irish Hiking Scarf, which was highly recommended by the posters on Knithelp.com. So far - so good! I am very happy with the pattern. Here is the progress I had so far on Tuesday I think .. and I worked on it a lot last night.

Not surprisingly, the detail is difficult to see and does not necessarily translate well via digital photo. Oh well. I will keep on working on it until I run out of the yarn that I am using - it is my first scarf and I will not be giving it to anyone - there are a couple cables that are either too long or too short - I need to get a row counter or something!! I am also working on another scarf in the same pattern - but different color - the rosy color that I used to work on the partial foldy scarf above. (Just trying to lessen the stash a bit, I suppose.)

Tonight I am going out with friends to Olive Garden to celebrate my birthday. I will be 30 tomorrow. Eeek! It is a momentous birthday. Tomorrow will probably bring antique shopping and an afternoon grillout with Mom. I am glad that I can kiss my 20's good-bye and hopefully I will have a lot more joy in my 30's than I did in my 20's - and a whole lot less heartache. (Not to say that I haven't had any joy .. just too much heartache.) No need to air past hurts here tho ...

Have a nice weekend!!!
